EKO HOT BLOG reports that the allegations were made by UK-based businesswoman Sandra Duru, who reportedly accused Akpoti-Uduaghan of planning to destabilise the Tinubu government by targeting Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
However, the lawmaker has firmly denied the claims, saying they were baseless and orchestrated by political actors threatened by her growing influence.
Speaking during an interview with US-based Nigerian journalist Adeola Fayehun, Akpoti-Uduaghan stated that the allegations do not reflect her values or political conduct.
“People who know me know I am not a tribalist,” she said. “I respect every tribe and ethnicity in Nigeria.
“I am half Nigerian, half Ukrainian — who am I to speak about tribal division? That is not who I am.”
The senator suggested that the false narrative was likely pushed by individuals sponsoring Duru, possibly in reaction to her rising popularity both at home and in the diaspora.
“If anybody said that, it’s probably her team or sponsors. They know I enjoy support from Nigerians in Kogi, across the nation, and abroad,” she said.
Addressing her alleged rift with the Presidency, Akpoti-Uduaghan clarified that she maintains a cordial relationship with President Tinubu. According to her, Senate President Akpabio may have grown uncomfortable with her access to the President.
She revealed that Akpabio once confronted her husband about her meetings with President Tinubu. “He asked my husband, ‘Are you aware your wife goes to see the President?’ and my husband said, ‘Yes, I am aware,’” she said.
The senator explained that she has met the President several times, especially on key national matters, including the probe of Ajaokuta Steel Company.
“Before I brought up Ajaokuta in the Senate, I met Mr. President to ensure he understood the context and gave his blessing. On other important matters too, I’ve met with him directly,” she said.
Despite being a member of the opposition, Akpoti-Uduaghan reaffirmed that her loyalty lies with her constituents, not partisan conflict.
“I don’t have a hostile relationship with the President,” she said. “I was elected to serve, not to antagonise. My people sent me to work, not to fight.”

She concluded by stating clearly that her political disagreements are specifically with Senate President Akpabio, not with the broader institution or the Presidency.
“My issue is with the Senate President, not the Nigerian Senate, the people, or the Presidency,” she said.
