EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to the statement, the approval followed a confirmation examination organised by the FCT Civil Service Commission on February 28, 2026.
A total of 2,281 workers participated in the examination after being invited to take part in the exercise. However, the Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, disclosed that about 2,512 workers were initially scheduled to appear for the confirmation process.
Out of those invited, 2,281 attended the examination while 224 officers failed to show up. The absence of these workers has raised concerns among officials, with speculation that some of the names may belong to individuals who do not actually exist in the system.
The commission explained that many of the staff who participated in the exercise had been working with the administration for several years without having their appointments formally confirmed.
Some of the affected workers were first employed in 2016 and 2019, while others joined the administration shortly before Wike assumed office as FCT Minister in August 2023.
The confirmation exercise formed part of ongoing efforts by the administration to regularise the employment status of workers who had served in the system for years without permanent confirmation.
Officials said the move is aimed at strengthening the administrative structure of the FCTA and ensuring proper documentation of staff within the civil service.
Meanwhile, Wike has also cautioned residents of the nation’s capital against being misled by politicians seeking votes.
He made the remark during a thank-you visit to stakeholders in the Abuja Municipal Area Council following the February 21 Area Council elections, where supporters of Bola Tinubu were elected.

Wike urged residents to remain vigilant and not allow political promises to influence their judgment during elections.
