The Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Ibadan, Mr. Ibrahim Lawal, has advised Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State to change his approach, accusing him of breaking the law.
On Monday, 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, accused Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, of gross misconduct.

Wike Fubara
Lawal criticized Fubara’s leadership, saying the governor struggles to manage people and relationships.
He condemned Fubara’s demolition of the House of Assembly complex, calling it an abuse of power that has harmed governance in Rivers State.
“Governor Fubara must retrace his steps. The Supreme Court’s decision clearly shows that governance in the state has collapsed due to his high-handedness.
Why is he fighting the legislature? The legislature is the symbol of democracy, and he even went as far as destroying their chambers. That is not fair,” Lawal said.
He also criticized Fubara for fighting his political mentor and those who helped him become governor.

“Why fight your mentor? What does he gain from it? Many governors have managed people effectively, but Fubara lacks that skill,” he added.
Lawal urged the lawmakers to act responsibly and focus on the interests of the people. He also advised them not to adjourn their sessions indefinitely.
“I congratulate the 27 lawmakers for avoiding suspension. However, they must think like statesmen and continue their legislative duties,” he said.
