EKO HOT BLOG reports that NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, confirmed in a statement on Sunday that Olasele, also known as Abbas Ajakaiye, was apprehended on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at his church in Okun Ajah, Lekki, Lagos. Operatives reportedly laid siege to the premises from morning until he concluded the evening service before moving in to arrest him.
According to Babafemi, Olasele had evaded capture twice and fled to Ghana after NDLEA operatives linked him to two large cannabis shipments from Ghana. The first, 200kg of Ghana Loud, was seized on June 4, 2025, at Okun Ajah beach, while another 700kg was intercepted from his delivery van on July 6, 2025. He later confessed to smuggling the drugs via waterways.
The agency also reported several other operations last week. In Lagos, operatives arrested Benjamin Udo Ukoh in Ikoyi with 15.63kg of Canadian Loud. In Nasarawa, three suspects were caught with 3,093kg of skunk, while in Kano, arrests included Nura Yahaya with 359kg of skunk, Umar Adamu Umar with 9kg of Colorado, and Usman Musa with tramadol pills and diazepam injections.
In Gombe, 550,266 pills of opioids were recovered in one raid, and 50,000 tramadol capsules in another. Edo operatives intercepted a bus carrying over 23,000 tramadol capsules and other opioids, arresting a suspect.

NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the officers for their efforts and urged them to sustain their “balanced approach” to drug control.
