He said URNI had expanded its reach internationally through collaborations with diaspora-based groups, including the Friends of Nigeria in Europe (FON), co-chaired by Mr. John Okoro in France, which has strengthened cultural exchange and mobilised diaspora resources for national development.
Shajiaba commended NIDCOM Chairman, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, for her leadership in promoting the welfare of Nigerians abroad, as well as her efforts in diaspora investment and advocacy, which he said align with URNI’s vision of building a globally respected Nigeria.
The initiative also presented its maiden publication, Faces of Patriotism, celebrating exemplary Nigerians, alongside its strategic roadmap for national rebranding.

NIDCOM Secretary, Dr. Sule Bassi, described the partnership as transformative, stressing that the Nigerian diaspora community holds vast potential in investment, innovation and diplomacy. He urged URNI to align its programmes with NIDCOM’s flagship initiatives to deepen synergy.
According to the statement, both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to showcasing Nigeria’s strengths and talents globally. Since its establishment in 2007, URNI has positioned itself as a grassroots driver of national pride, with the latest partnership expected to further unite Nigerians at home and abroad in the rebranding effort.
