The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast dust haze and thunderstorms across different parts of the country from Thursday (today) to Saturday, urging residents to take necessary health and safety precautions.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in its weather outlook released on Wednesday in Abuja, NiMet predicted slight dust haze over parts of the northern region on Thursday, including Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Yelwa, Katsina, Kano, Bauchi, and Gombe States.

The agency added that Borno, Yobe, Kaduna, and Taraba States are expected to experience sunny and hazy conditions throughout the forecast period.
For the North Central region, NiMet said skies would remain sunny and hazy, with slight dust haze anticipated over parts of Nasarawa and Plateau States.
In the southern region, the agency forecast sunny skies with few cloud patches, alongside prospects of morning thunderstorms accompanied by light rainfall over Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Bayelsa States. Later in the day, thunderstorms with light rain are expected over parts of Bayelsa, Lagos, Cross River, Ogun, Ondo, Abia, Imo, Rivers, Delta, and Akwa Ibom States.
On Friday, NiMet predicted that sunny and hazy conditions would persist across the northern and North Central regions. In the south, sunny skies with few clouds are expected, with chances of afternoon or evening thunderstorms accompanied by light rain over parts of Bayelsa, Cross River, Imo, Abia, Rivers, Delta, and Akwa Ibom States.

For Saturday, the agency forecast continued sunny and hazy weather over the northern and North Central regions. In the south, sunny conditions with few cloud patches are anticipated, with possible afternoon or evening thunderstorms over parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, Lagos, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom States.
NiMet warned that dust particles remain suspended in the atmosphere and advised the public, especially people with asthma or other respiratory conditions, to take precautions.
The agency also urged motorists to exercise caution during rainfall, while advising airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for effective flight planning.
