NIS Expands Contactless Biometric Passport Application System to US, Mexico, Others
- The contactless biometric passport application system is currently available in Canada, Europe, and Asia
- The system will become operational in the USA on April 11 and Jamaica on April 14.
- The expansion allows applicants to apply for passports without having to visit passport offices in Nigerian missions abroad.
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) is set to expand its contactless biometric passport application system to the United States, Mexico, Jamaica, and Brazil in a second phase roll-out this month, Eko Hot Blog reports
According to NIS Public Relations Officer, ACI Akinsola Akinlabi, the system will become operational in the USA on April 11 and Jamaica on April 14, with Mexico and Brazil following suit on the same date.

This expansion allows applicants to apply for passports without having to visit passport offices in Nigerian missions abroad.
