The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and several independent
marketers have again reduced the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit across filling stations in Abuja.
According to Daily Post, NNPC retail outlets in the Federal Capital Territory have adjusted their pump price to ₦915 per litre, down from ₦920. The latest change reflects a further ₦5 reduction.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that independent marketers, including BOVAS and MRS, have also reviewed their prices. Some outlets now sell petrol at ₦910 per litre, compared to previous rates that climbed as high as ₦945. Other stations such as AYM Shafa, NIPCO, Optima, Mobil, Ranoil and Empire are dispensing prices between ₦920 and ₦937 per litre, depending on location and depot supply conditions.
The new pump prices correspond with a downward trend in ex-depot rates from key depots and refineries. As of Wednesday, petrol was sold at ₦824.50 per litre at Dangote Refinery, ₦823 at Eterna and Aiteo depots, and ₦822 at BOVAS.
This latest adjustment by NNPC follows two earlier reductions in the last two weeks. The price had recently fallen to ₦945 per litre, representing a ₦30 drop from the previous ₦975 per litre.

Despite the cuts, many motorists are reportedly avoiding Premium Motor Spirit supplied from Dangote Refinery at several filling stations due to comparatively higher pump prices. This shift has led to a noticeable decline in patronage at MRS outlets, especially in Abuja.
MRS, owned by Alhaji Sayyu Idris Dantata, the half-brother of Dangote Refinery Chairman Aliko Dangote, is currently selling petrol at prices higher than those offered by competing marketers.
