EKO HOT BLOG reports that reports that the meeting, held at the Assembly complex in Alausa, Ikeja, began around 2:10 p.m. and includes the Deputy Speaker, Mojisola Meranda. The discussion is aimed at reconciling aggrieved lawmakers, easing tensions, and setting a clear path forward for legislative harmony.
With this development, indications suggest that Obasa is unlikely to step down, despite widespread speculation about his possible resignation.
As of 3:45 p.m., the meeting was still ongoing.
Sources close to the discussions revealed to Vanguard that Obasa may also withdraw the lawsuit he filed at the Ikeja Court against the House of Assembly and 33 lawmakers over his removal as Speaker.

Obasa Reconciliation Meeting
His re-election on Monday marked a dramatic twist in the leadership tussle within the 40-member Assembly. The decision came after the resignation of his successor, Mojisola Meranda, following interventions from the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at both the state and national levels.
Obasa had been removed from office on January 13, 2025, by 33 out of 39 lawmakers, who then installed Meranda as Speaker. The development triggered political unrest, affecting the House, the Governance Advisory Council (GAC)—the highest decision-making body of the APC in Lagos—party members, and supporters.
In response to the crisis, President Bola Tinubu set up a high-level national reconciliation committee led by Chief Bisi Akande and Aremo Segun Osoba to mediate and restore stability within the Assembly.
