The Odo Noforija Kingdom in Epe Division, Lagos State, has been plunged into mourning following the passing of Mrs. Susana Ayodele Shafau Ogunlaja, affectionately known as Iya Oba.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that she died peacefully on July 12, 2025, at the age of 86.

Mrs. Ogunlaja, a revered member of the Ogunbotu Ononlu Alagbo Ogunlaja of Oligbe Ligbe Ruling House in Itun Oligbe, was a devoted Christian, a teacher by profession, and a respected matriarch known for her humility, grace, and deep sense of community service.
Her passing was officially announced by the Aladeshonyin and Paramount Ruler of Odo Noforija Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr.) Babatunde Ogunlaja, who described her legacy as one that will continue to inspire generations. He noted her life of faith, compassion, and dedication to both family and community.

The funeral arrangements is scheduled to begin with a wake keep on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Ogunlaja Royal Family House in Itun Oligbe, near the Aladeshonyin Palace, Odo Noforija.
A funeral service and interment will be held on Saturday, August 30, at the First African Church Mission, St. David’s Parish, Odo Noforija Kingdom. After the burial, guests will be hosted at an open field beside the official Aladeshonyin Palace.
Thanksgiving service will take place on Sunday, August 31, also at St. David’s Parish. Well-wishers are encouraged to send condolence messages and tributes to the Oba Aladeshonyin Media Section via 08136346780 for inclusion in the burial program.
Mrs. Susana Ayodele Shafau Ogunlaja is remembered for her lifetime of noble service, spiritual devotion, and enduring impact on her community.
