He had indicated interest in contesting for the Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives but later stepped down from the race in favour of Billy Osawaru.
His reappointment to the Edo State Executive Council was formalised on Wednesday when Governor Okpebholo administered the oath of office on him at a ceremony in the state.
Speaking during the swearing-in, Okpebholo said Osifo was selected for the education portfolio because of his experience and demonstrated capacity.
The governor charged the new commissioner to focus on the development of education at all levels, stressing the need for measurable improvements across primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in the state.
“There is a lot to be done in the educational system. We want you to develop all aspects of education: primary, secondary and tertiary in Edo State. We want to record success under your watch,” Okpebholo said.
The governor also swore in Aghedo Oscar Onaiwu as a member of the Edo State Local Government Service Commission.
Responding after taking his oath of office, Osifo expressed appreciation to Governor Okpebholo for giving him another opportunity to serve in the state government.
He pledged to contribute to the development of the education sector and work towards achieving the administration’s objectives.

Osifo described his return to the cabinet as a significant responsibility, noting that it was his second time being sworn in as a commissioner within two years.
“This is my second time in a space of two years being sworn in as commissioner,” Osifo said.
“I do not take this for granted. I will do my best as commissioner.”
The new commissioner now takes charge of the education portfolio at a time when the state government is seeking improvements across the education system, with the governor urging him to deliver results at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels.
