He noted that he openly declared his position despite being the only prominent figure from the main opposition party to do so, citing the principle of power rotation to the South and personal conviction as key motivations.
Wike further recalled his leadership role in Rivers State during the elections, where the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the presidential poll, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) maintained control of the governorship, National Assembly, State House of Assembly, and local government elections under his oversight.
The birthday celebration at Wike’s residence drew National Assembly lawmakers from Rivers State, serving and former legislators, members of the Rivers State House of Assembly led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule, local government chairmen, and political associates from across party lines.
Speakers at the event praised Wike for his achievements, political foresight, and national influence. Ambassador Desmond Akawor, Rivers State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and former PDP chairman, described Wike as the “naked wire” of Rivers politics, asserting that President Tinubu made the right choice in working with him.

Speaker Amaewhule, representing 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, expressed gratitude to Wike, pledging continued loyalty and support, while Port Harcourt City Local Government Chairman, Allwell Ihunda, lauded him as a consistent and compassionate leader.
Other notable attendees included PDP National Caretaker Committee Chairman Mohammed Abdulrahman, PDP Board of Trustees Chairman Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, PDP National Vice Chairman (South South) Chief Dan Orbih, APC chieftain Hon. Victor Giadom, former Abia State Governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, and Senators Sandy Onor, Magnus Abe, George Sekibo, and Bari Mpigi.
In response, Wike thanked his political family and associates for their support, describing criticism and abuse as motivation rather than deterrence. He pledged to continue working with his people in the interest of Rivers State and Nigeria. The event concluded with special prayers for Wike and his family.
