- Police arrest three suspects linked to murder of Abuja fuel attendant, Grace Alewa
- Victim was abducted in a commercial ‘one-chance’ vehicle and later killed
- Prime suspect had prior arrest for similar crime but was mysteriously released
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested three suspects linked to the abduction and killing of 23-year-old petrol station attendant, Grace Godwin Alewa, in Abuja.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Grace was found lifeless on Saturday, July 12, along Abubakar Street in the Alex Ekwueme District of Jabi, a day after she boarded a commercial vehicle on her way home from work. Unknown to her, the vehicle was allegedly operated by a one-chance syndicate posing as genuine transporters.

The victim, a native of Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State, was abducted and robbed. The syndicate later contacted her family, demanding a N1 million ransom for her release. It is unclear if the ransom was paid, but her body was discovered the next morning and she was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
Public outrage followed the killing, especially after misleading narratives on social media falsely linked her death to a transactional affair. Her family and colleagues strongly denied the claims, describing her as a hardworking young woman who was simply returning home from duty.
Following the incident, FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, directed a tactical manhunt for the perpetrators. Acting on his order, the Scorpion Squad, led by ACP Victor Godfrey, launched a series of intelligence-driven raids between July 12 and July 26.

Three suspects were arrested during the operation. They include Sunday Uduma, alias Akidi, 39, from Ohafia LGA in Abia State; Godwin Eze, 39, from Cross River State; and Nnaiji Ikenna, 33, from Imo State. Police recovered the black Mazda 323 vehicle allegedly used in the crime.
Security sources disclosed that digital intelligence tools aided the arrests, and the suspects reportedly confessed to the crime. Further investigation also revealed that Uduma had been previously arrested for a similar one-chance robbery in February 2024 and remanded at Keffi Correctional Facility.
How he regained freedom remains unknown, but police confirmed he resumed criminal activities shortly after. The suspects are currently in custody and will face prosecution upon the conclusion of investigations.
