In a joint statement, NULGE’s State Chairman, Comrade Anestina Iweh, and State Secretary, Comrade Ofunne Christopher Chidi, described the NLC’s planned protest as a “personal vendetta.” They commended Governor Umo Eno for clearing gratuity arrears and paying pensions promptly.

NULGE stated that with the governor’s strides, the union sees no justification to participate in the protest and reaffirmed its support for the administration.
Similarly, the NUP announced its withdrawal, explaining that it had already discussed the requested ₦32,000 pension increase with the Head of Service. The union stated, “The implementation date is not yet due. We therefore direct our members not to join the protest.”
Additionally, the JPSNC also opted out of the protest after an emergency meeting. In a communiqué, the council urged dialogue over confrontation, insisting, “it’s better to jaw-jaw than war-war in resolving outstanding issues.”
