In a long-awaited development, the individuals accused of killing Deborah Samuel stood before a court to answer for their alleged crimes, one year later.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Bilyaminu Aliyu and Aminu Hukunchi, the two college students suspected to be involved in the murder of Deborah Samuel, a female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education were apprehended and presented before Chief Magistrate Court Gwiwa in Sokoto on Monday, May 16, 2022, as part of an ongoing investigation by the legal department.
The suspects are believed to be involved in a case under investigation.

Recalls that on May 12, Deborah was attacked by a mob and brutally set on fire following allegations of making derogatory remarks about Prophet Mohammed.
The shocking video footage, which went viral on social media, showcased the student enduring a barrage of stones and vicious beatings with sticks.
The heinous incident ignited widespread anger and condemnation throughout the nation, prompting the Sokoto police command to take swift action.
In a significant breakthrough, two persons were arrested as prime suspects in relation to the brutal murder, signalling the police’s resolute efforts to ensure justice is served.
The arrest of the two suspects triggered a wave of discontent among residents, culminating in a protest that engulfed Sokoto in turmoil.
In light of the escalating unrest, the state government took the necessary measures to restore order by implementing a 24-hour curfew.
Monday witnessed the arraignment of Aliyu and Hukunci at the Sokoto police command, following their alleged participation in the murder of Deborah Samuel.
The arraignment symbolises an important milestone in the investigation, as law enforcement takes concrete steps to hold the suspects accountable for their alleged actions.
During the court proceedings, the suspects pleaded not guilty to the murder charges brought against them.
Khalil Musa, the prosecuting inspector, told the court that the police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Mansur Ibrahim, the defence counsel who is leading a team of 34 lawyers for the case, applied for bail on behalf of the suspects, adding that the request was in line with constitutional provisions and sections of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law.

But the trial judge (name withheld for security reasons) reserved ruling on the bail application and ordered the suspects to be remanded at a correctional centre.
