- Oshiomhole said President Tinubu has shown strong political will to tackle insecurity
- He urged security agencies to improve coordination and execution of directives
- He also called for greater collaboration among all security agencies to combat crime
Senator Adams Oshiomhole has defended President Bola Tinubu against criticism over the country’s security challenges, insisting that the President has demonstrated strong political commitment to tackling insecurity.
Speaking on Friday in Abuja during the launch of a book authored by the Federal Capital Territory Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Eko Hot Blog gathered that Olusola Odumosu, the Edo North lawmaker said the Federal Government had consistently provided the leadership and resources needed to combat criminality.

According to Oshiomhole, President Tinubu has repeatedly directed security agencies to restore peace across the country while approving additional funding and supplementary budget allocations to strengthen security operations.

He argued that the President’s decision to replace security chiefs and declare emergency measures in response to security threats reflected his determination to address the nation’s challenges.
The former Edo State governor maintained that insecurity should not be viewed through partisan lenses, urging politicians across party lines to support efforts aimed at protecting lives and property.
While affirming Tinubu’s commitment, Oshiomhole questioned whether directives issued by the Commander-in-Chief were being effectively implemented at operational levels.

He stressed the need to ensure that personnel on the front lines receive adequate equipment, logistics, allowances and motivation to carry out assigned duties successfully.
The senator also called for a review of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps’ identity, arguing that the agency’s growing role in confronting heavily armed criminals no longer aligns with the “civil” description in its name.
He said security agencies tasked with protecting critical national assets should be equipped with weapons and operational capacity comparable to those used by criminal groups.
Earlier, NSCDC FCT Commandant and author of the book, Olusola Odumosu, called for stronger collaboration among security agencies, describing inter-agency rivalry as one of the major obstacles to effective security operations.
He said addressing terrorism, kidnapping, banditry, oil theft and other crimes requires coordinated action and information sharing among all security organisations.

Odumosu maintained that no single agency possesses all the resources or expertise needed to confront the country’s security challenges, urging security institutions to work together with a common purpose.
