In the aftermath of the local government elections held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) took a crucial step in certifying the victorious candidates.

While congratulating the winners, Abioye emphasized the importance of upholding democratic values and serving the people of Osun State with dedication and integrity.

However the polls were not without controversy, as the Ademola Adeleke led Osun government proceeded with the election despite advice from the police and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) to postpone the election due to security concerns.

The opposition parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Labour Party (LP), have expressed their dissatisfaction with the election process, with the LP calling for a postponement.
The APC also boycotted the polls, citing a lack of transparency and electoral integrity.
