Professor Oloyede raised concerns about underaged candidates, revealing that 4,997 students under 16 years old had already registered. He criticized some parents for pushing their children into higher education too early, saying:
“In the past, we had a maximum of about 300 underaged candidates, but in just five days, we already have nearly 5,000. By the end of today, the number will exceed that. Some parents want to use their children’s early education to boost their own reputation.”
He explained that JAMB allows underaged candidates to register but requires them to sign an indemnity form or undertaking, agreeing that they must prove they are academically ready. If they fail, they will face penalties.
Additionally, six individuals working with JAMB have been banned for life after being caught in exam malpractice. The registrar revealed that a senior university official is currently facing prosecution for exam fraud, while others are still under investigation.
JAMB also caught 10 institutions registering candidates at night, which is against the rules.
After monitoring the registration process, Professor Oloyede expressed satisfaction, saying the exercise was running smoothly across all centers.

“I am very proud of our CBT centers, staff, and everyone involved. They are maintaining high standards, and the security agencies have been very supportive,” he said.
