A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party led by Kabiru Turaki has entered into a political alliance with the Allied Peoples Movement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the spokesperson of the faction, Ini Ememobong, confirmed the development on Wednesday, explaining that the partnership emerged from discussions held during the All Opposition Political Party Leaders Summit in Ibadan, Ibadan, in April.

Ememobong hinted that more political alliances could follow, describing the agreement with the APM as the beginning of broader opposition cooperation.

The alliance comes weeks after opposition groups, including the Turaki-led PDP faction, the African Democratic Congress and a faction of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, disclosed plans to support a consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
Political observers believe the latest move could further strengthen coalition efforts among opposition parties seeking to challenge the ruling bloc in the next general election.
The development also follows the recent resignation of Bala Mohammed from the PDP, after which he obtained the senatorial nomination form of the APM on May 7.

His decision has intensified speculation over ongoing political realignments within opposition circles ahead of the polls.
There are also reports suggesting that Seyi Makinde may officially defect to the APM during a planned mega rally scheduled to hold in Ibadan on Thursday.
Ahead of the event, several lawmakers in Oyo State reportedly dumped the PDP for the APM.
Meanwhile, the PDP continues to grapple with internal crises, with the party currently divided into two major factions.
One of the factions, reportedly supported by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is headed by Abdulrahman Mohammed and is recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission as the legitimate leadership of the party.
