EKO HOT BLOG reports that MaiBasira announced his decision in a resignation letter dated December 22, 2025, addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Tudun Wada South Ward in Chanchaga Local Government Area of Minna, Niger State.
In the letter, he expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunities he received while serving in various national and auxiliary capacities, describing his years in the PDP as a period of commitment and service.
He described his decision to leave the party as “painstakingly onerous,” noting that he had remained loyal to the PDP from the time he first registered as a member.
However, MaiBasira said recent developments within the party compelled him to reassess his political future.
According to him, changing circumstances and what he described as “very obvious circumstances and asphyxiating realities” made it necessary for him to alter his political direction.
Despite his resignation, the former party official extended goodwill messages to members of the PDP Ward Executive and the wider party family in Minna, Niger State and across the country.
He assured party members of his continued respect and warm regards, stating that his exit should not be seen as personal but as a decision taken after deep reflection.
As of the time of filing this report, MaiBasira has not publicly disclosed his next political destination.
However, political observers note that MaiBasira is a known supporter of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

There are widespread expectations that he, alongside many of his supporters who reportedly left the PDP earlier, may align with the African Democratic Congress, which has been positioning itself as a major opposition platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
