A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has declared his intention to contest the 2026 governorship election in Osun State on the platform of the APC.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that former Osun Deputy Governor, Senator Iyiola Omisore, announced on his X handle on Saturday that his formal 2026 governorship declaration, themed “Fix the Broken, Restore Our Dreams,” will take place at the APC Secretariat in Osogbo on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 10 a.m.
In his message, Omisore said his decision followed deep reflection and wide consultations with stakeholders across the state. He pledged to focus his campaign on restoring hope, improving governance, and building a stronger future for the people of Osun.
“This is not just my mission, it is a collective one. I invite all Osun people to join me in the Osun Rescue Mission 2026,” he stated.
Omisore, who previously contested the 2014 governorship election under the Peoples Democratic Party, later joined the APC in 2021 and became the party’s National Secretary a year later.
He also represented Osun East Senatorial District from 2003 to 2011 and served as chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
He is expected to be one of the leading aspirants in the APC’s race for the governorship ticket ahead of the 2026 election.
