The internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deepened on Sunday, November 2, 2025, after the circulation of alleged “warning letters” reportedly issued to key members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the letters, described by some party leaders as fabricated, were allegedly aimed at justifying the recent suspension of certain national officers.
According to reports, the letters were circulated by loyalists of the suspended Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, in Abuja. Dated September 30, 2025, the letters were purportedly addressed to the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and the National Organising Secretary, Captain Umar Bature (rtd), accusing them of “insubordination and breach of party discipline.”
Both officials, however, dismissed the documents as politically motivated and illegitimate. Anyanwu, in his reaction, described the letter as “nonsense,” insisting that no one within the PDP has the authority to caution him. “It is nonsense! Can anyone there dare give me a warning letter?” he said.
Bature also rejected the letter, calling it part of a smear campaign. “They just want to justify the nonsense they did. None of those signatories has the power under the PDP constitution to discipline NWC members,” he said.
Controversy heightened when it was discovered that the letters bore the signatures of Abdulrahman Mohammed recently named Acting National Chairman by the Wike/Anyanwu bloc — alongside Chief Ali Odefa and Chief Emmanuel Ogidi, both of whom were recently invalidated by a Federal High Court ruling.
The same judgment affirmed Chief Dan Orbih, an ally of Nyesom Wike, as the authentic PDP South-South Zonal Chairman. Party insiders have since described the timing of the letters and involvement of invalidated signatories as “a desperate attempt to legitimise illegal actions.”
