Hon. Attorney Larry Johnson, who passed away on Friday, July 18th, 2025, wasn’t just a long-standing member of the club—he was part of its heartbeat.
For nearly 25 years, he poured his time, energy, and spirit into Eko Club Houston, serving in multiple roles and always stepping up when it mattered most. His absence now is more than a loss; it’s a silence that is deeply felt.
As the gathering began, Otunba Akindoju led a heartfelt prayer, his words laced with both sorrow and hope.
He asked for strength and healing for the family and for the courage to carry Larry’s memory forward with grace.
Otunba Tajudeen Gbenga Abass, a revered elder within the club, spoke with quiet emotion about Larry’s importance to the community, describing him as “an integral part of our successes and a cornerstone of the community.”
Hon. Olumide King shared warm, personal memories—moments that revealed Larry’s compassion, humility, and unwavering commitment to lifting others.
In a moving message, General Secretary Hon. Tunde Bashorun reminded the family that they’re not alone in this.
He assured them that Eko Club Houston would continue to walk alongside them, offering support, prayer, and the strength of community.
“Hold on to the faith that has carried you this far,” he urged, “because it’s what Larry lived by, and it’s what will keep his light alive.”
Hon. Diran Willoughby closed the visit with a powerful prayer, one that blended grief with gratitude and sorrow with peace.
He gave thanks for Larry’s decades of dedication and promised that his spirit would continue to live on in the work and values of the club he helped build.
