Tears flowed in Akure, Ondo State, on Saturday as the remains of former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi (Tuykana), were laid to rest at a private cemetery along Akure/Ondo Road.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Oluwatuyi passed away while receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital following a ghastly auto accident on December 15, 2024, during a trip to Ibadan, Oyo State.

Before his burial, a night of solemn tributes was held in his honor, bringing together politicians, family members, and associates to celebrate his life and legacy. Emotions ran high as the Akure-born grassroots politician was committed to the earth.

At the outing and thanksgiving service at Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Isegun, Akure, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa described Oluwatuyi as a dedicated public servant who left an indelible mark on Ondo State.

“Hon. Oluwatuyi, fondly called Tuykana, has paid his own debt. His contributions to Ondo State and grassroots politics were remarkable. He was a compassionate leader who worked tirelessly for the people,” Aiyedatiwa stated.

He highlighted Oluwatuyi’s extensive political career, including his roles as local government chairman, Commissioner for Natural Resources, and twice as SSG.

In his sermon, Pastor Henry Ojo, President of Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria and Overseas, emphasized the certainty of death, urging attendees to live with spiritual preparedness.

The deceased’s daughter, Mrs. Jumoke Adeola, expressed deep gratitude to Governor Aiyedatiwa, the Ondo State Government, and all who supported the family during their time of grief.

Oluwatuyi’s passing leaves a significant void in Ondo State’s political landscape, but his legacy of service and leadership continues to inspire many.
