Davido’s firm came from talent not dads money
Recalling the incident, Spyro said: “On getting there, David was on stage, he came back, and Ubi told me, ‘You’re going on stage now.’ Before I knew it, the MC announced my name.
After performing, I asked Ubi for the money, and he admitted that Davido wasn’t the one who asked me to perform. I realized he used Davido’s name—this is a scam!”
In response, Ubi Franklin claimed he withheld the payment because Spyro owed him money.

He alleged Spyro was supposed to pay him 10% for facilitating a car purchase and that Spyro still owed him ₦2 million. Franklin stated the $5,000 was deducted as part of the debt.
The accusations sparked mixed reactions online, with Davido also being dragged into the controversy. Reacting via his Instagram Story, Davido shared a video of Franklin’s statement and simply wrote: “Pls, I’m sorry.”
