In continuation of the mandate of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, to relaunch and reposition the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) across the country, the National Coordinator of POCACOV, SP Orvenonne Ikwen, on Wednesday took the advocacy campaign to Anambra State to further strengthen the fight against cultism, drug abuse, and other social vices at the grassroots.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the statewide engagement commenced with a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, who warmly received the National Coordinator and the delegation from the Office of the Inspector-General of Police.

The delegation thereafter proceeded to the office of the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, who reiterated the state government’s commitment to value reorientation and youth development.
According to the SSG, POCACOV is not a new initiative in Anambra State, noting that its objectives align perfectly with the state’s developmental agenda.
“POCACOV is not new to us in Anambra State. We have five pillars in Anambra, and Pillar Four represents governance and value reformation, which POCACOV fits perfectly into. The initiative will be amplified across the state, and we will ensure that its message reaches schools, religious organisations, and communities,” she stated.
Responding, the National Coordinator, SP Orvenonne Ikwen, expressed appreciation to the Anambra State Government for its unwavering support for the initiative.
She assured the state officials that the Inspector-General of Police would be fully briefed on the remarkable role the government has continued to play in advancing the campaign against cultism and other social vices.
She also charged POCACOV volunteers in the state to intensify their efforts by engaging more young people, describing them as the demographic most vulnerable to cultism, drug abuse, and other related crimes.
The delegation also paid courtesy visits to the newly appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 13, AIG Miller Dantawaye, and the newly promoted Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Ikioye Orutugu. During the visits, the National Coordinator briefed them on the Inspector-General’s renewed vision for POCACOV.
Both senior police officers commended the initiative and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting its implementation across the zone and Anambra State through strategic partnerships and sustained community engagement.
As part of the day’s activities, the delegation visited the Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, His Majesty Igwe Chidubem Iweka, Iweka III of Obosi Kingdom, who disclosed that the campaign against cultism has remained one of his longstanding priorities within his kingdom.
The revered monarch commended the Inspector-General of Police for strengthening and expanding the POCACOV initiative, while assuring the National Coordinator and the volunteers of his continued support in mobilising traditional institutions and communities towards eradicating cultism and other social vices.
Concluding the day’s engagements, SP Orvenonne Ikwen reaffirmed that the renewed POCACOV campaign under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, is designed to build a generation that rejects crime and embraces positive values.
“The fight against cultism cannot be won by the Police alone. It requires a united front involving governments, traditional rulers, religious leaders, educators, parents, community leaders, and every well-meaning Nigerian. POCACOV is a movement for value reorientation, and together we will continue to guide our young people away from crime and towards purposeful living.
With the support we have received in Anambra State today, I am confident that this campaign will continue to flourish and produce lasting results,” she said.
