- Police Arrest Fake Pharmacist Over Teenage Girl’s Injuries
- Seal Bauchi Medicine Store
- Police investigations revealed that Mamman is neither a licensed pharmacist nor a qualified doctor
The Bauchi State Police Command has sealed Hamdala Special Medicine Store in the Yelwa area of Bauchi metropolis after a teenage girl reportedly suffered severe injuries from unprofessional treatment.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Police spokesperson Ahmed Wakil said in a statement on Friday that the action followed a petition from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management against the store’s operator, identified as 27-year-old Ibrahim Hassan Mamman, also known as “Degree”.

According to Wakil, 15-year-old Maryam Magaji was taken to the store with malaria and typhoid symptoms. Despite initially prescribing tablets, Mamman allegedly administered an intramuscular injection over three days at the insistence of her brother.
The girl’s condition later deteriorated, leading to her admission at Bayara Hospital, where doctors confirmed her injuries were linked to the injection.
Police investigations revealed that Mamman is neither a licensed pharmacist nor a qualified doctor.
Expired drugs, including products manufactured by Fidson Healthcare Plc and Tuyil Pharmaceuticals Ltd., were also recovered from the store.
Mamman was arrested and reportedly confessed to the allegations during interrogation.
The incident comes amid mounting concerns about unregulated pharmaceutical practices in Bauchi.
Previous enforcement exercises by the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) led to the sealing of hundreds of unlicensed pharmacies and medicine shops across the state for similar violations, including poor storage and illegal clinical services.
In a separate case, the Bauchi police also confirmed the arrest of a woman accused of torturing her 10-year-old stepdaughter in Magama Gumau, Toro Local Government Area.

Wakil explained that the suspect, identified as Zuwaira Hassan, allegedly inserted a hot metal spoon into the child’s private part after accusing her of witchcraft. The girl was rescued and taken to General Hospital, Toro, while Zuwaira and a native doctor, Fatima Abdullahi, believed to have instigated the act, were arrested.
Police investigations found that Abdullahi demanded N150,000 but later collected N40,000 from the suspect for so-called protective medicine. Zuwaira allegedly directed her two sons to restrain the girl before carrying out the abuse.
Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered both cases transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation. He assured the public that justice would be pursued to protect the rights of the victims.
