A Certified True Copy of the report, dated June 13, 2025, and directed to the Assistant Inspector General of Police at CID Annexe, Alagbon, was reviewed by our correspondent.
The findings followed a formal complaint by the accused, who had questioned the credibility of an earlier investigation.
Ochonogor and Owolabi were recently brought before the Lagos State High Court in Tafawa Balewa Square over accusations of forging land documents and unlawfully tearing down a structure on the contested property.
The updated police inquiry concluded that all documents submitted by the developer and his legal counsel were genuine. It also confirmed that the demolition was approved by the appropriate authorities.
The investigation established that the land, identified as Block 133, Plot 10 in Lekki Peninsula Scheme 1, was initially assigned in 1994 by the Lagos State Government to Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, former Chief Security Officer to ex-Head of State General Sani Abacha.
Ochonogor reportedly became aware of the property in 2015 through real estate agent Donatus Eze, Managing Director of Trust Dede and Property Nigeria Limited. The demolition notice was validated by Peter Omotosho of Archbond Builders Limited and jointly signed by Bode Agoro, representing the Lagos State Government.
The notice had earlier been published in a national newspaper on September 11, 2009, bearing the signature of the then Permanent Secretary of the Lands Bureau, Gbenga B. Ashafa.
The police have since forwarded the report to the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution.
