EKO HOT BLOG reports that Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu, who handed the cheques to the beneficiaries, said the intervention reflects the police leadership’s continued commitment to supporting families of personnel who paid the supreme price. He noted that the funds were released under the Group Life Assurance Scheme and the Inspector-General of Police Family Welfare Scheme.
“The cheques amounting to ₦33,158,545.65 will be presented to about 54 beneficiaries under the Group Life Assurance Scheme and the IGP Family Welfare Scheme,” he said. “The gesture demonstrates the unwavering commitment of the Police High Command to the welfare of officers and the families of those who paid the supreme price in the line of duty.”
Orutugu reaffirmed the command’s preparedness to deliver effective policing throughout the festive season. He urged residents to remain law-abiding and promptly report any suspicious activities as security operations intensify across the state.
He also relayed the Inspector-General’s commendation to officers for their professionalism during the recently concluded governorship election. According to him, all strategic officers have been directed to strengthen intelligence-led operations, boost patrols, and enforce the command’s anti-crime strategy to ensure a peaceful Yuletide.
He further urged commanders to stay vigilant, uphold professionalism, and remain community-focused in addressing emerging security issues.

A similar intervention was reported on September 11, when the command presented ₦59.2 million to 38 families of fallen officers during a high-level strategic meeting.
