Residents of Badon-Mangoro, in Wamakko Local Government Area of Sokoto State, were thrown into shock on Sunday following the discovery of the body of a 10-year-old girl at a refuse dumping site in the area.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Community sources said the body was found on the morning of Sunday, February 8, 2026, near an uncompleted building close to the dump site.

According to residents, the girl had earlier left home to attend Islamic school, but did not return, prompting her parents to begin a search for her.
Neighbours suspect that the child may have been attacked by unknown persons before her death, though no official confirmation has been made.

The Sokoto State Police Command has taken custody of the body and commenced an investigation. The remains have been moved for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Police authorities say efforts are ongoing to identify those responsible and ensure they are brought to justice.
