EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to the sources, Placid has been appointed to assume the role of Force Public Relations Officer, a position traditionally occupied by an officer of the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police.
Hundeyin, who previously served as the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, was appointed as the Force PRO in September 2025.
In addition to the leadership change in the police public relations department, the police hierarchy has reportedly established a new unit known as the New Media Office.
Chief Superintendent of Police Ali Giwa has been appointed to head the newly created department, which is expected to focus on digital communication and online engagement for the police.
The development comes shortly after Hundeyin publicly stated that the new Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, would not be influenced by emotional pressure or sentiments in carrying out his duties.
In a statement shared on his social media platform, Hundeyin emphasised that the police leadership would remain professional and committed to upholding the rule of law. He noted that the Inspector-General would not be pressured into taking unnecessary actions and would continue to ensure discipline and professionalism within the force.
Hundeyin also stated that any officer found to have violated the law would face appropriate sanctions, stressing that no member of the police force is above the law.

He added that a case currently before a competent court is progressing as expected and assured the public that the police leadership remains committed to fairness and accountability. According to him, the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force under IGP Tunji Disu remains determined to strengthen professionalism within the institution while ensuring that officers who act outside the law are held responsible.
