The Yobe State Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Ahmed, has swiftly initiated a probe into a tragic incident of homicide involving Inspector Mohammed Bulama, a member of the Police Mobile Force, 41 Division in Damaturu, the state’s capital.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Public Relations Officer, Yobe Police Command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, it was disclosed that on September 29, 2024, at around 18:20 hours, Inspector Mohammed Bulama, aged 38, engaged in a heated dispute with Abdulmalik Dauda, also known as Baksha, aged 39, from Pompomari Ward, Damaturu, regarding an unresolved matter at the Zango Area.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the altercation turned physical, culminating in Bulama allegedly stabbing Dauda in the chest, with Bulama himself sustaining head injuries during the altercation.

Subsequently, Bulama was apprehended at the ‘C’ Divisional Police Headquarters where he had taken refuge. The state’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has launched an inquiry, with Bulama presently in custody pending internal disciplinary proceedings and legal action.

In response to the incident, Ahmed strongly denounced Bulama’s actions and extended condolences to Dauda’s family, vowing to ensure that justice prevails.

Ahmed affirmed the police force’s unequivocal stance against any misconduct by its personnel, emphasizing their commitment to upholding accountability and the rule of law.

“We are resolute in serving justice and holding the responsible individual accountable,” remarked Ahmed, underscoring the determination of the Nigeria Police Force to address such misconduct and secure justice for the affected parties.
