- President Tinubu Is Not an Extremist, Will Never Support Religious Persecution – Wike
- President Donald Trump had labelled Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern”
- He stated that President Tinubu would never tolerate or condone any form of religious persecution
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims that President Bola Tinubu is an extremist or turning a blind eye to the alleged killing of Christians in Nigeria.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Wike stated this during an interview on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, on Monday while reacting to reports that U.S. President Donald Trump had labelled Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern” over alleged Christian genocide.

The minister described such allegations as politically motivated and baseless, insisting that the composition of President Tinubu’s government contradicts claims of religious bias.
“The Inspector General of Police is a Christian; the Director-General of State Security is a Christian. Today, the Chief of Defence is a Christian; the former Chief of Defence is a Christian. The Secretary to the Government is a Christian,” Wike said.
“Now tell me, how can any right-thinking person in government support the killing of his own people? That’s why I said it is politics taken too far.”

He further stated that President Tinubu would never tolerate or condone any form of religious persecution.
“Not this president, whose wife is a senior pastor, will shut his eyes and do nothing while a particular religion is being eliminated. Certainly not,” he added.
Wike maintained that the Federal Government remains committed to protecting the rights and safety of all Nigerians regardless of religion or ethnicity.
