President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare, professionalism, and operational effectiveness of the Nigerian Army, Eko Hot Blog reports.
Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima at the opening of the Chief of Army Annual Conference 2025 in Lagos on Monday, he pledged continued support for the Armed Forces in fulfilling their constitutional duties.

Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Appolonia Anele, disclosed that Tinubu paid tribute to both serving and retired officers, commending their courage, patriotism, and sacrifices in defending Nigeria’s sovereignty and unity.

Defence Minister, retired Gen. Christopher Musa, highlighted the conference’s importance for reviewing operations, ensuring Army readiness, and aligning activities with national priorities. He emphasised inter-agency collaboration and a whole-of-society approach to achieve tangible results on the battlefield.
Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, thanked the President and the National Assembly for support in welfare, equipment, training, and reforms. Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu also pledged state support, describing security as the foundation of development.
The conference brings together senior officials, Service Chiefs, former chiefs, security heads, diplomats, and dignitaries to discuss operational, administrative, and strategic issues, including the unveiling of a biography of the late COAS Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.
