An attendant at Akugbe Mortuary in the Upper Sakponba area of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, Edo State, has been arrested following allegations that vital organs were removed from a corpse.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the incident reportedly sparked a violent reaction from relatives of the deceased.

According to eyewitnesses, family members discovered that parts of the body were missing when they arrived to collect it for burial. Osaro Ivie, who witnessed the incident, said tempers flared as the deceased’s chest cavity was allegedly found emptied and stuffed with nylon, prompting accusations of ritual involvement.

Police operatives intervened just in time to prevent the attendant from being lynched by the mob. Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, confirmed that the suspect was rescued and is now in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) while investigations continue.
She urged the public to remain calm and allow due process to take its course.
