Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II and Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the dethroned Emir of Kano, are locked in a battle for the royal stool.

Around 4 PM on Sunday, young people took to the streets to demand the return of the dethroned monarch.
Some protesters lit bonfires on major roads as they marched, chanting anti-government slogans.
Daily Trust saw policemen on ground but they did not attempt to disperse the protesters who are marching towards the palace where Emir Sanusi is.
The protesters trooped out after observing a special prayer session.
Some of them have placards with inscriptions such as, “Abba Kabir Yusuf, Obey Court order”, “Court Brought You”, “You Must Obey The Court”, “Aminu Is Still Our Emir”, “We Are Against Injustice”
