On Wednesday, Qatar, Egypt, and the United States announced a multiphased truce between Hamas and Israel, which includes halting the Gaza conflict and exchanging captives. The agreement, set to begin on Sunday, will last seven weeks in its first phase. This stage involves increased humanitarian aid, a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces, and an exchange of Israeli captives for Palestinian prisoners. The second phase, anticipated in March, depends on the smooth execution of the initial phase.
Sheikh Mohammed highlighted Qatar’s and Egypt’s roles in mediating the agreement, crediting the collaboration between the outgoing Biden administration and President-elect Donald Trump’s team for achieving the ceasefire.
