EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement released on Tuesday, the club said: “Following the tests carried out today on our player Rodrygo by Real Madrid’s medical services, he has been diagnosed with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and a tear of the lateral meniscus in his right leg.”
The 25 year old winger sustained the injury during Monday’s 1–0 La Liga defeat at home to Getafe CF. Rodrygo came off the bench in the second half and completed the match, but further medical examinations the next day revealed the severity of the damage.
An anterior cruciate ligament injury typically sidelines players for several months, with recovery periods often extending close to a year. The setback comes shortly after Rodrygo returned from a month on the sidelines due to tendonitis.
His absence represents a significant blow to Brazil national football team as they prepare to pursue a record sixth World Cup title in the United States. It also leaves Madrid short of attacking options at a crucial stage of the campaign.
French forward Kylian Mbappe is also unavailable after suffering a knee sprain and has missed the club’s last two matches with an external ligament problem in his left knee.

With a Champions League last 16 clash against Manchester City F.C. scheduled for next week at the Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid’s attacking resources are limited. Only Vinicius Junior, Gonzalo Garcia and Franco Mastantuono are currently fully fit and available for selection.
