According to an official press briefing signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the annual Islamic festival as a profound reminder of total submission, deep sacrifice, and unconditional love for humanity, as historically exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
Reflecting deeply on the spiritual essence of the season, Tinubu noted that the foundation of the celebration, where a child was replaced with an animal, underscores the supreme value that God places on human existence.
He maintained that criminal elements who use religious or ideological covers to justify bloodshed are acting completely outside the boundaries of faith.
The President explicitly challenged Nigerians to use the holidays to extend kindness and open generosity to their neighbors, while intentionally abandoning lines of discrimination, ethnic friction, and historical grudges.
The Commander-in-Chief argued that Nigeria’s core strength remains embedded within its cultural diversity and common humanity, stating that no regional or partisan differences should ever derail the country’s collective push toward sustainable development and peace.
He further stressed that citizens must remain highly disciplined, law-abiding, and compassionate toward the less privileged in their immediate communities.
Supporting this stance during the session, the Grand Chief Imam of Lagos State, Sheikh Sulaimon Abou-Nolla, delivered a sermon calling on the Muslim faithful to fear Allah, build structural unity, and emulate the charitable virtues detailed in the Holy Quran.
