EKO HOT BLOG reports that he defected on Friday alongside fifteen members of the House, marking one of the most significant shifts in the state’s recent political developments.
Amaewhule explained that his decision followed what he described as a clear division within the PDP, adding that the party was no longer unified enough to support effective legislative work.
His defection is expected to reshape political alignments within the Assembly and heighten ongoing tensions in the state.
This development comes months after President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers in March, a move that led to the suspension of Governor Sim Fubara, his Deputy, and members of the House.

The situation has since remained a major point of national attention, with the state’s political structure still unsettled.
