President Bola Tinubu had earlier nominated Musa to replace Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, who stepped down from the position citing health concerns.

The former Chief of Defence Staff said his leadership would apply the full strength of the armed forces against criminal groups responsible for attacks on communities. He also vowed to investigate the withdrawal of military personnel before the attack on Government Comprehensive Girls Secondary School in the Maga area of Kebbi State.
