EKO HOT BLOG reports that speaking on Thursday at the Imo Economic Summit in Owerri, Johnson described Badenoch as a potential future British prime minister and praised her growing influence within UK politics.
He highlighted the strong and longstanding ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, noting that both nations continue to benefit from an exchange of skills, expertise, and economic partnerships.
Johnson listed key exports from Britain, including pharmaceuticals, financial services, automotive parts and whisky, while acknowledging Nigeria’s contributions of oil and gas, Nollywood productions, medical professionals, technicians, and technology experts.
Johnson said Nigeria had not only sent skilled individuals to the UK but also produced a leader whose political profile continues to rise.
He said, “And we send you former United Kingdom prime ministers, and you send us a future United Kingdom prime minister in the form of Kemi Badenoch, who comes from Nigeria and is doing better and better these days.”
His remarks come amid growing internal debates within the Conservative Party over future leadership direction. Recent polling has shown discontent among some party members, leading to renewed conversations about the long term political outlook.
