EKO HOT BLOG reports that speaking ahead of the UEFA Nations League final between Portugal and Spain, the 40-year-old Al Nassr forward acknowledged the unique connection he shares with Messi.
“Of course, I have affection for Leo Messi. We’ve been on stage together for 15 years,” Ronaldo said. “I remember translating English for him at the Galas because he didn’t speak it well. He always treated me well and respected me.”
Together, Ronaldo and Messi have defined football’s modern era, winning a combined 13 Ballon d’Or titles and consistently setting new standards.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo confirmed he will not participate in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, despite receiving offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia and Brazil. “It’s almost decided that I will NOT take part… despite many invitations and proposals,” he stated.
The announcement ends speculation linking him with a move to Al Hilal in a bid to feature in the tournament.
In a more personal revelation, Ronaldo drew comparisons between his son, Cristiano Jr., and Spain’s rising star, Lamine Yamal. “My son and Lamine Yamal look very much alike… I like Lamine a lot, and my son also admires him.”
As Portugal faces Spain in the final at Munich’s Allianz Arena, Ronaldo is set to lead his side in what could be his last major international final.
