According to Tinubu, peace and security cannot be left to government alone. He urged traditional rulers to use their influence to promote dialogue, discourage violence, and foster unity within their communities.
“Our royal fathers are the closest link between government and the grassroots,” he noted, adding that palaces should serve as centres for peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and moral guidance.
The President highlighted the unique position of traditional institutions as custodians of culture and trusted voices at the grassroots level, emphasizing their role in promoting social harmony, especially at a time of growing security concerns.

At the event, Tinubu also paid tribute to Oba Falae, describing him as a bridge between tradition and modern governance.
He praised his contributions to Nigeria’s public service, particularly his time as Minister of Finance and later as Secretary to the Government of the Federation, noting his impact on economic policy and national development.
He further acknowledged Falae’s leadership within Afenifere, describing his role as significant in shaping socio-political discourse in the South-West.
Reaffirming his administration’s stance, Tinubu pledged continued collaboration with traditional rulers to improve security, strengthen unity, and drive grassroots development across Nigeria.
For many observers, the message is clear in today’s Nigeria, traditional rulers are not just symbols of heritage, but key partners in building peace and stability.
