The Rapid Response Squad (RRS), a tactical unit of the Lagos State Police Command sponsored by the Lagos State Government, has successfully apprehended a suspected thief caught with nine packs of stolen cigarettes, each valued at ₦10,000, Eko Hot Blog reports .
A statement released on the squad’s official social media platform described the arrest, which occurred on Sunday evening in Lagos.

The suspect, who was reportedly attempting to flee with the stolen goods, inadvertently encountered an RRS patrol team beneath the Falomo Under Bridge during their routine patrol.
At the time of the arrest, which took place around 5:30 p.m., the officers discovered the cigarettes in his possession.
Authorities have stated that the stolen cigarettes, with a combined estimated value of ₦90,000, were allegedly taken from a supermarket in the area, although the specific location has yet to be identified.

“The suspect has been handed over to the Falomo Police Division for further investigation and possible prosecution,” the RRS statement noted.
The Lagos State Police Command reiterated its commitment to tackling both petty and organized crimes across the state, urging residents to stay vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities.
