The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has lifted the ban imposed on journalist Sammy Wejinya after he successfully appealed for a retrial and appeared before an investigative panel.

Elegbeleye emphasized that the NPFL Board prioritizes corrective action over punitive measures, noting Wejinya’s significant contributions to the league’s media coverage.
The panel’s report acknowledged the extenuating circumstances surrounding his absence from the initial hearing and recognized his efforts to address the situation.
The NPFL Board also took into account evidence of physical injuries and material losses Wejinya suffered during the incident that led to his suspension.
However, he was cautioned to use appropriate channels for grievances instead of escalating matters through the media.
Wejinya, who was originally suspended for publishing a controversial report about an incident at the Lafia Township Stadium, has been warned against engaging in activities that could tarnish the league’s reputation.
