The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, in collaboration with key stakeholders in the youth constituency, on Saturday staged the International Youth Day Symposium as part of activities marking this year’s International Youth Week.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the highlight of the event was the decoration of the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, as the Grand Patron of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos State Chapter, by the State Chairman, Ambassador Adigun Ibrahim.
In his keynote address, Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, leadership inclusion, and sustainable development.
As a demonstration of support, he presented a brand-new Hiaise bus to the Lagos State Chapter of the NYCN to aid mobility and coordination of youth-related programmes.

“Today’s youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow but the active drivers of today’s development. Our government remains committed to providing the enabling environment and opportunities for them to thrive,” the Governor said.
The symposium drew participation from across the state, with the NYCN Epe Local Branch in active representation alongside other Local Branches and Voluntary Youth Organisations (VYOs).
Their presence underscored the unity, strength, and collective voice of young people across Lagos in driving developmental change.
Ambassador Adigun Ibrahim, State Chairman of the NYCN, expressed appreciation to the Governor for his continuous support to youth initiatives, describing the bus donation as a practical gesture that will enhance the Council’s operations.
The occasion, beyond celebrating young people, reflected the renewed synergy between the Lagos State Government and the organised youth constituency towards building a more inclusive and sustainable future.
