Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu warmly received the newly elected Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, and the new Principal Officers of the House during a courtesy visit on Monday.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the meeting occurred at Lagos House, Ikeja, shortly before the weekly State Executive Council meeting.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, along with his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, led the Speaker and her delegation to the Council Chamber, where both parties committed to continuing a harmonious working relationship between the legislative and executive branches of the state government.
The Principal Officers that accompanied the Speaker were Deputy Speaker, Hon. Mojeed Fatai (Ibeju-Lekki I); Majority Leader, Hon. Temitope Adedeji (Ifako Ijaiye 1); Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Richard Kasunmu (Ikeja II); Chief Whip, Hon. David Setonji (Badagry II) and Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Sanni Babatunde (Kosofe I).
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu extended his congratulations to Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda on her historic election as the first female Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Meranda, who previously served as the Deputy Speaker, was elected following the impeachment of her predecessor, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, in a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, pledged to maintain a strong and productive relationship between the executive and legislative branches of the state government.
He emphasized the importance of cooperation in fostering growth and development for Lagos State.
The Governor further highlighted the significance of separation of powers as a fundamental principle of democracy and expressed his commitment to working closely with Meranda, who represents the Apapa Constituency I, and other Assembly members.
He sought their continued support in expediting the consideration and passage of key bills to implement numerous programs aimed at improving the lives of Lagos residents.
