Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has launched the pilot phase of the Adopt-A-School PBAT Feeds Programme, tagged “Snacks for Thought,” with a renewed call for public and private sector collaboration to ensure no child goes to school hungry.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the programme was officially flagged off at the Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area (LCDA) as part of the Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. ‘Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, the governor described the initiative as a strategic partnership that will improve pupils’ nutrition, boost school attendance and enhance learning outcomes.
Sanwo-Olu said the programme is more than a school feeding initiative, describing it as a long-term investment in Nigeria’s future.
“No child should be denied the opportunity to learn because of hunger,” he said, adding that the success of the programme depends on the collective support of governments, businesses and individuals.
The governor praised President Bola Tinubu for prioritising education, nutrition and human capital development through the Renewed Hope Agenda. He also commended First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for her continued advocacy for children and vulnerable groups.
According to him, providing nutritious meals in schools will not only improve pupils’ academic performance and attendance but also stimulate local economic growth by creating opportunities for farmers, food processors, caterers and other businesses involved in food production.
Sanwo-Olu noted that education remains a key pillar of the Lagos State Government’s THEMES+ Agenda, highlighting ongoing investments in classroom infrastructure, teacher development, digital learning and school health programmes.
He appealed to corporate organisations, financial institutions, professional bodies, faith-based organisations, alumni associations and philanthropists to support the initiative by adopting public primary schools across the state.
The governor also unveiled the Adopt-A-School Dashboard, a digital platform designed to improve transparency and accountability by allowing sponsors to identify schools, monitor projects and track the impact of their interventions in real time.
He encouraged interested organisations and individuals to register through the platform and partner with government in expanding access to quality education and nutrition.
Addressing the pupils, Sanwo-Olu urged them to remain focused on their education, reminding them that today’s classroom could produce tomorrow’s doctors, engineers, entrepreneurs, governors and presidents.
The event also featured the presentation of the Community Impact Award to Governor Sanwo-Olu in recognition of his support for the Adopt-A-School and PBAT Feeds Programme.
The launch concluded with a live demonstration of the school adoption platform, signalling the beginning of a nationwide call for governments, businesses and development partners to work together to ensure every child has access to nutritious meals while learning.
