Sanwo-Olu Sympathizes With Jigawa Governor, Victims’ Families Over Fuel Tanker Explosion

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, commemorates and expresses his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who died in the unfortunate fire incident in Majiya town, Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State, following the explosion of a petrol-laden tanker.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the tanker driver lost control of the vessel near Khadija University on Tuesday at approximately 11:30 p.m.

Tanker Explosion in Jigawa

Reports confirm that the tanker had left Kano and was en route to Nguru town in Yobe State when the driver lost control, causing it to plummet along with its cargo.

According to information obtained, some villagers went there to scoop the merchandise following the incident, which ultimately resulted in the explosion.

Therefore, Governor Sanwo-Olu addressed his colleague, Governor Umar Namadi, in a letter of condolence to the victims’ friends and acquaintances, the Jigawa State government, and the people.

In a statement made public by Mr. Gboyega Akosile, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Sanwo-Olu commemorated and prayed for the victims and their families, Governor Umar Namadi, and the people of Jigawa in light of their countrymen’s tragic deaths.

He said, “It is with heavy heart that I have read and followed the development of the disaster that happened yesterday in Majiya town, in the Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State, following the explosion of a petrol-laden tanker that claimed over 153 persons.

“Certainly, this unfortunate incident is beyond what we can reasonably imagine, going by what I have seen in the media.

The devastating effects can only be imagined.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with my brother, Governor Umar Namadi, the Government and the people of Jigawa State over this very sad incident.

“I pray for the repose of the deceased and ask that the Almighty Allah grant the families of the victims the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
